COO Trace Smith
had a not-so-average night Tuesday—he not only shared a stage with his idol Marc Andreessen
, but he met the man.
The Wilmington startup executive (pictured above) and Silicon Valley VC were presenters at the Wall Street Journal's
first tech conference since parting with All Things Digital
last year. Called WSJDLive
and held in Laguna Beach, Calif., the three-day event brings together thousands of tech greats like Tim Cook, James Cameron, Jack Ma, Peter Thiel
and Steve Ballmer
with entrepreneurs like Coursera CEO Richard Levin, Noam Bardin
of Waze and Zach Sims
Next Glass, the highly-scientific drink recommendation app launching in mid-November, was chosen from more than 1,000 applications to the Journal's Global Startup Showcase, featuring five startups from around the world. We weren't there for Smith's presentation, but we got to see Next Glass co-founder Kurt Taylor pitch the business at last month's CED Tech Venture Conference. Here's the film of that talk below. And stay tuned for more on Next Glass come November.
